THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND

We are seeking a responsible Technical Supervisor for one of our clinics. You will directly supervise staff in the Technical Department. You will be responsible for hiring, disciplining, and terminating employees; planning, assigning, scheduling and directing work; and helping to manage the performance appraisal process. You will develop and implement training programs and address all staff needs.

OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU

  • Supervise the office staff and oversee the day-to-day operations of the technical staff
  • Manage all HR related activities in the clinic
  • Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Responsible for training of staff and making appropriate recommendations to administration
  • Maintain knowledge of trends in ophthalmology
    • Analyze and organize clinical operations and procedures to ensure peak patient flow, triages emergency cases appropriately into physicians schedule, maintains patient flow
    • Maximizes productivity through scheduling of staff, training and proficient use of appropriate technology
    • Monitors staffing needs, including approval of PTO and coordination of coverage, to ensure adequate staff to meet the needs of the practice.
    • Responsible for in-service and training of staff, review staff knowledge of technical responsibilities and makes appropriate recommendations to administration
    • Responsible for the requisition of supplies, maintaining stock in exam and procedure rooms; and the timely maintenance of clinical equipment to minimize down time; performs first level maintenance on ophthalmic equipment, communicates need for repairs or replacement to office manager and administration
    • Performs and records initial history; including present/chief complaint, past ocular history, family history, systemic illness, medications, allergies and drug reactions, tests and records patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception
    • Performs ancillary test such as lensometry, corneal topography, A scans, B scans, keratometry, tonometry, fundus photography, manifest refractions, fluorescein angiography, slit lamp photography, specular misoscopy, and visual fields, (including central and peripheral vision); records results
    • Knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories
    • Assists ophthalmologist in all areas of patient exams and in office procedures
    • Maintains confidentiality and professional demeanor at all times WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
      • 5+ years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Assistant
      • Extensive experience with an EMR system
      • You're extremely detail-oriented and have exceptional time management skills
      • You're a strong, empathetic leader who works well as part of a team
